Shining Light on 2020
None of this was possible, without you! This year we celebrated SSF’s 4th birthday as a 501(c)(3) organization. Thanks to all of our donors, sponsors and volunteers. To date, you have helped award over $300,000 in scholarships and grants to families receiving services at St. David’s Center, Fraser, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare and Kidtalk.

90 scholarships given
80 families changed forever

“Wow, this is absolutely amazing! I am in tears! I have no works besides a huge THANK YOU! Your generosity makes it so much easier for us to continue to bring our son to his much needed PT appointments now that I don’t have to worry about paying for the previous therapy he received and we can focus again on the future!”

Telehealth for the Win!
COVID-19 has been a barrier to therapy we never anticipated. Many of the families we support who already struggle to afford services simply could not afford to purchase the devices or a monthly Internet fee to connect with their providers. The Shooting Star Foundation was eager to offer a solution for families and offered a $20,000 donation giving 37 families the equipment and connectivity they needed to stay in the swing of education.

37 families helped
$20k donated in total

“We are so thankful for the help, especially now. With COVID affecting our income and our son needing surgery next month this is a wonderful gift. We are forever grateful.”

Spotlight on Kidtalk!
We celebrated this new partnership the best way we know-how – with a scholarship to a Kidtalk family in need! The family’s five-year-old son had been diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech. Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a speech disorder in which a child’s brain has difficulty coordinating the complex oral movements needed to create sounds into syllables, syllables into words, and words into phrases.

Thanks to your ongoing support, he is currently working with a speech-language therapist to receive the care he needs to thrive.

“We look forward to the opportunity to work together to make early intervention services available to families who may otherwise not have the ability to get their child the therapy they so desperately need. We are so grateful to Shooting Star Foundation for helping ease the financial burden our families may experience throughout this therapy process.”
