The Shooting Star Foundation gratefully accepts donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Certain other gifts (e.g., in-kind services and goods, real property, personal property, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner) will be accepted in our discretion due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose.
The Shooting Star Foundation will respect the intent of donors relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, information about donors will be restricted to only those staff members with a need to know.
Acknowledgments will be provided to donors meeting tax requirements for property received as a gift, but no value shall be ascribed to any gift that is neither cash nor publicly-traded securities. The Shooting Star Foundation cannot provide advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.
The Shooting Star Foundation does not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to The Shooting Star Foundation.
If you have questions or would like to discuss a contribution, please contact Joe Biller, Co-founder, at (612) 219-6780 or by email at joe@shootingstarfoundation.org.
